Swisstopo, officially the Swiss Federal Office of Topography, is Switzerland's national mapping agency. The current name was established in 2002 and had been used as the website domain since 1997. Known for its detailed maps, particularly those in the 1:25,000 scale, it produces scales ranging from 1:25,000 to 1:1,000,000. Numbered based on geographical location, the maps cover topography, tourism, skiing, and cultural heritage. Its history dates back to the 19th century, with technological advancements and name changes over the years. Despite its Swiss focus, some maps also cover areas outside of Switzerland.
