National Geographic Institute (IGN) of Belgium, known as Nationaal Geografisch Instituut (NGI) in Dutch, is the country's geographical reference institution. Founded in 1976, but with origins dating back to 1831, it has evolved from the Dépôt de la Guerre et Topographie to the current IGN. In 2020, it moved to the Renaissance Campus in Brussels.

The history of IGN begins in 1831, with the mission to establish the official topographic map. The IGM, created in 1878, fulfilled both civilian and military missions. Renamed as IGN in 1976, it focused on replacing lost geodetic points and systematically covering Belgium with aerial photographs.

IGN publishes topographic maps for the entire Belgium, with a notable scale of 1/50,000 (1:50,000 in French and Dutch), balancing detail and broad coverage. Additionally, it offers thematic and tourist maps, along with a collection of atlases and antique maps.
