15 Days of Training to Plan Your Routes

We explain a real case so you can learn how to use Land 9 from ZERO to PRO

I'm Lee García and I've been in the GPS and route planning world for over 30 years. I use GPS in all the sports I practice, whether it's hiking, MTB, paragliding, or even sailing.

Over the next 15 days, I'm going to introduce you to the world of preparing and creating a route from scratch with the help of Land 9. You'll see that you don't need to be a professional to create authentic routes that will make your outings more fun and safe adventures.

Once Land 9 is installed, it's important to get a good cartographic base, so we can study the area on which we are going to create our route. In this example, we are going to create a hiking route in the area of the volcanoes of La Garrotxa, an area near Barcelona in Spain.

La Garrotxa is a spectacular area surrounded by volcanoes and wooded areas to discover. I've been wanting to take a trip there for a while since I hardly know it, and I've read comments about its spectacular landscapes, especially in autumn, although this route can be done at any time of the year. In my case, I'll do it in winter.

The example I'll show you is a case from a specific area of Spain, but you can follow the same steps to plan any route in other areas you want to explore. Choose an area of your choice, the steps to prepare your route will be the same as I'll explain below.

During the preparation, you can add more or fewer elements to your route, but I recommend adding all the elements I will, so you will gain practice and gradually create your routes faster.

I'm sure you'll have fun while having your route completely under control for the day you go hiking, and you'll hardly have any surprises or unexpected events.

Shall we start?
